In short term, ZooBC planned to use what we think is a better consensus algorithm, and some other things like making the blockchain faster to download etc. But we do have a unique approach to DApps which we will describe in more detail in the future.
To give a rough idea:
ZooBC think of a system where each node operator can install/support the few DApps he cares about. The fact that not all nodes run all DApps can then be used to increase the network scale as well. But we're still working out with the engineering details on that :)
